Through a generous grant from the College for Pastoral Leadership, the Rev. Andrew Moore has been working with colleagues from around the church for the last two years to study the theology and practice of joy in the wake of trauma. Come hear his reflections on this work, how cultivating joy can facilitate healing, as well as practices anyone can use to place joy at the center of their lives.

Women in Faith (WIF)
Tuesday, May 13 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in Brooks Library

WIF is a group of St. John’s women who meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. We have a different topic each month, usually with some thought-provoking discussion questions to stimulate curiosity and creativity. And snacks!
Our topic in May will be "Pilgrims and Pilgrimages," where those who were able to participate in the Pilgrimage to Edinburgh, Scotland can share what we learned, as well as uncover what it means to be a pilgrim right at home.
In June we will talk about our Summer Reading Plans—what books and other reading material we hope to dive into for both spiritual growth and restful pleasure. Come with your recommendations! All women are welcome! Questions? Please contact womensgroup@stjohnsmclean.org.

A Pilgrimage to Edinburgh, Scotland, and the English Lake Country
April 30–May 9, 2025
In five days in Edinburgh, we will explore expressions of our Episcopal and Anglican faith, including historic connections to the Episcopal Church of Scotland and the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian). Our tour includes visits to museums, castles, and historic sites in Scotland and England, as well as free time to explore the treasures of the area. We will enjoy a literary landscape which inspired generations of writers, including Wordsworth, Sir Walter Scott, the Brontes, and Beatrix Potter.
